Amway Cup 2005 in Taipei/Taiwan

The Amway Cup is an Invitaion tournament where 12 of the best women in the world took part. Taiwan is the best place for billiard players on earth. The fans are so fascinated and into it. Before the tournament started we had to do a lot of other stuff like photoshooting, interviews, pressconference etc. The national TV station broadcasted 12 hours per day live from the event and worked really hard to make a great event.

We played in two groups:

Gruppe A

Gruppe B

Karen Corr (IRE)

Allison Fisher (GBR)

Shin Mei Liu (TPE)

Jennifer Chen (TPE)

Ga Young Kim (KOR)

Wendy Jans (BEL)

Jennifer Barreter (USA)

Janet Lee (USA)

Shu-Han Chang (KOR)

Akimi Kajitani (JPE)

Jasmin Ouschan (AUT)

Lin Yuan Chun (TPE)

My first opponent in the group was Shu Han Chung from Korea. It was not her first time at the Amway Cup, so in that case she was a bit more experienced than I was. I had a couple of problems at the beginning. I couldnīt find my rythm. I gave her chances to took the lead, but I found my way back into the match. The match went back and forth. At the end I was one game in front but I couldnīt finish the match. I played a bad safty shot and so I lost 7:6

In the second match I faced the worldchampion from 2003 Shin Mei Liu. I knew I had to play better than in the match before but it went totally wrong. She had  a good head start and took a rapid 3:0 lead. I started playing better but I was trailling all the time. I came closer but it was not enough to win. I lost my second match 7:4. I was very disappointed after this day because I knew that I have to win the next three matches to be qualified for the final round.

On the next day I played against Karen Corr. I played much better than in the matches before. I made better use of my opportunities and took the lead. I controlled the match and won 7:4. That was the revenge from the Worldchampionships 2004 in Austria.

Ga Young Kim was my next opponent. It was an unbelievable match. I did not make any mistakes but I had to accept that she was making the best of her game and winning one game after another. It was a lucky match for her and everything went well for her. I couldnīt believe it. I lost 7:2 and the dream to be qualified fort he final round was over.

I had one match left against Jennifer Baretta and I played awesome. I gave her no chances and racked her up 7:1. I was disappointed of course but it was my first Taiwan and Amway Cup experience and it was great.
