Enjoypool.com Open in Las Vegas (BCA Open)
In my first match I faced the 2 times World Champion Ga Young Kim from Korea. I knew it will be a tough match so I really prepared myself for it. I had a good feeling on the table and was very focused. The match was very balanced and we both made good use of our breaks. It was not a great match because we both made some mistakes. It was vey exciting the whole time because nobody could take the lead. In the end I managed to win 9:8. It was a hard job but a very good start for me.
In the next round I played Alice Rim from the USA. I played flawless pool and gave her no chances. I simply crushed her 9:2. The third match I had was against Melissa Herndon. I struggeld at the beginning and she gained a hefty 4:0 lead. I fought back into the match and made very good use of my opportunities. But to come back like this cost me a lot of energy so I started giving away a lot of good chances. She took the lead again but this time I couldnīt come back. A unlucky foul in the end gave me the rest. I lost 9:6 to Herndon. In the loosers bracket I played against Dawn Hopkins. She has been playing for very long already on the WPBA tour, so she is a experienced player and tough to play. Again I had a bad start and Hopkins didnīt miss any ball. I was trailing 4:0 and I knew if want to win I need to play a lot better. I fought back and it was a little bit like flashback from the match before. At the score of 5:5 I lost my concentration again and gave away the next 3 games. All of a sudden it was 8:5 by a race to 9. I took time out and tried to focuse again. When I came back on the table I fought for every ball, every chance and every game. Finally I won 9:8.
On the next I had a very difficult job. If I wanted to enter the semifinal I needed to win 5 matches in a row on one day. In the first my opponent was the number 2 in the world ranking Karen Corr. We both started out really good and the only thing that ruled our match were safty situations. I played really good pool and entered the next round by winning 9:7.
Kelly Fisher was my next opponent. She won the last WPBA tournament so I knew she is in a good shape. I found my stroke, my rythme and feeling for the table and eliminated Kelly Fisher 9:3 with a good performance. In the next match I played the 18 year old shooting star Pam Treadway. She eliminated a few really good players in this event so I was looking forward to this match. I am also only 20 years old but I showed her that I am playing a little bit longer in this business already. I played very agressive and took every chance I got. I crushed her 9:3.
Next I match I played the in the USA living austrian Gerda Hofstatter. I lost to her last year in this event so it was time for a revenge. I could handle the situation perfectly and controlled the whole match. I eliminated Gerda Hofstatter with 9:3. My last match on this day was against the number 1 from Asia, Shin Mei Liu. It was already a long day for me but I had enough energy left for this match. In a short time I gained a hefty 7:0 advantage. I crushed her 9:2. Finally the tough day was over and I was looking forward to the semifinal against Helena Thornfeldt.
The match against Thornfeldt was not my best match but I managed to win 7:6. The final was a lot more interesting. Til the score of 3:0 for Fisher I didnīt have any chances. I only got on the table at safty situations. At 3:0 I broke and ran the next rack. I played flawless pool and didnīt miss any ball. At 6:5 for me I broke and made a ball but it was a really tough set up. Whern I realized that I could actually win this tournament with this rack it got even more difficult. But I made it and won the 2006 enjoypool.com Open with a 7:5 victory over Allison Fisher.
