IBP Euro Tour in Malaga/Spain

At the last Euro Tour Stop of the year in the Spanish city Malaga, Jasmin Ouschan could not reach her goal completely. The fact that the Austrian only played a few Euro Tours this season made her lose some places in the ranking and so she faced the reigning World 9 Ball Champion Daryl Peach from Great Britain in the first round. In a balanced match Ouschan could take the lead after being 3:1 behind in the first games. At the score of 8:7 for Ouschan she missed an easy nine ball to win the match. Peach used his chance to win close with 9:8 and send Ouschan to the losers round.

„It’s tough that I couldn’t use this huge chance to win against the World Champion in the first round. But I think my game was up until this point very consistent and I have no explanation yet why I missed that nine ball.”

In the losers round Ouschan met Thomas Schubert from Germany in the night session. Unfortunately the Nr.1 of the women world ranking kind of overslept the start of the match and found herself trailing 1:6 until she woke up and fought back into the match to win with 9:6 score. In the second match Ouschan had to play Artem Khosovoyy from the Ukraine who was handicapped because his cue came to late from the airport and so he had to play with a friends cue. The young player fought back during the whole match but still lost 8:9 to Jasmin Ouschan. In the following 3 matches Ouschan managed to win with clear scores until she faced Thomas Engert from Germany in the qualifying match. Ouschan, who won the last two matches at the Euro Tour Sindelfingen and WC Manila against Engert, couldn’t do much this time and lost with a 9:4 score and finished 33^rd. 

„Actually I really like playing him but this time the luck was on his side. I played solid pool but he always answered back really strong even though there were situations he didn’t plan to happen. But he is a fair sportsman and kind of apologized for it after the match and looking at the match I can live with that defeat even though I didn’t reach my goal. It was a very long and exciting season for us, and to be honest I am happy, knowing that the next balls I am going to see are the balls on the Christmas tree until the preparation for the new season begins.
