The fifth stop of the IBP Euro Tour took place in the House of Billiards in Weert/Holland. Over 300 players send their registration to the EPBF but because of the limited field, only 234 players got the chance to play. The tables were in a good condition and TV arena was also very impressive. All the matches on the TV table were live broadcasted on the Bwin homepage. Usually we should be very happy about 27 degrees Celsius in September but this time it was a big disadvantage for us pool players. The heat in the poolroom was after a few rounds indescribable and under the spotlights of the TV table unbearable. On the next day they set up fans next to the player seats in the TV arena, which helped at least a little bit. As a pool player you want to be on the table all the time but this was the first time that a player was actually happy to go back to the seat. We played a race to 10 and with a different alternate break. Everybody has 3 breaks in a row and 3 balls must go over the line or you make one ball and then only 2 balls need to go over the line.
Usually you can’t compare Weert with Las Vegas but on this weekend this little town turned into a huge festival. There was a big fair all over Weert with rollercoaster’s, merry-go-round, shooting stands and everything else you can find on a fair. So for some knocked out players this was a chance to enjoy the last days in Weert.
In the tournament I started with a defeat against the Spanish Fazanes. I managed to win the next 2 matches against the German Björn Lepke and the 12 year old Dutch Marc Bijsterbosch. Afterwards I lost to the Austrian fellow Dejan Dabovic who finished fifth at this Euro Tour. Even though I was not so successful at this euro tour I could show my accuracy later at the shooting stands. My next tournament will be the Euro Tour in Switzerland where I hopefully reach my goal, by qualifying for the last 32.
