Joss Northeast Tour

The Joss Northeast Tour is a very successful Tour series which is organized by a veteran of our billiard sport, Mike Zuglan. The 11th event took place at the wonderful Turningstone Resort and Casino, close to the city Syracus, which will also be the venue for the PGA Tour in September with players like Tiger Woods. In this impressive complex a hall was channelled into billiard temple and 500 to 1000 people were constantly watching the matches.

The players field consisted of 128 of the best men worldwide and a few women. Jasmin Ouschan was one of the “featured players” next to players like Ralf Souquet, Niels Fejan, Jonny Archer, Ronny Alcano or Dennis Orcullo who got invited to this big event.

At the beginning of the tournament Ouschan met Jay Hlvacheck from the USA. The tournament was played on Diamond tables with tight pockets, which were just perfect. Without any problems Ouschan easily adjusted to the conditions and started the event with a clear 9:2 victory.

In the second round Jasmin Ouschan faced one of the finalists in this event, Louis Ulrich again from the USA. After a really bad mistake on the 8 ball in game 1, Ouschan had to sit down for a while and got the next chance at 4:0. A little surprised from the strong performance, Ouschan put all her focus on the blue cloth between the 6 rails trying to get back into the match. Even though Ouschan was able to put a little bit a pressure on Ulrich, the US American didn't let loose and finished the match with 9:6.

„With my first match I am really satisfied. I played a good level all the way to the end and that was a good feeling. The other match against Ulrich didn't quiet run as I expected it but I have to say that in this match he was just the better player,” said Ouschan about the 2 matches on this day.

The match in the losers round was against Chris Leal (USA). From the first ball on the match went into the completely wrong direction. Ouschan had problems finding her rhythm which led to a few mistakes and in tournaments like that you get punished right away. One thing led to another and Ouschan ended up way behind. But this time fighting back paid off, till the nerve racking score of 8:8. A flawless safe on the 1 ball enforced her ball in hand and the important 9:8 victory.

In the next match Jasmin Ouschan got the chance to play on the TV table where Accu Stats, the most popular Billiard DVD production company, recorded every second of the tournament. Her opponent was Tony Crosby another representative from the USA. Playing on the TV table is always a special situation but the experienced Nr.1 ranked player in the world perfectly managed to not let that influence her game and entered the next round by a 9:6 victory over Crosby.

Right after the TV match Ouschan played Ed Abraham (USA). Both players started out with a few mistakes but all of a sudden the rather unknown Abraham put in a different gear and it seemed nobody can stop him anymore. But Ouschan kept fighting and surprised the crowd with a few interesting and tough run-outs. Nevertheless Abraham finished the match with 9:6 and kicked Ouschan out of the event.

„ The tournament didn't run the way I wanted it. I made to many mistakes and on this level you get punished for it right away. Anyway I am happy that I got the chance to be a part of this great event,” said Ouschan about the event.
