Austrian Championships 2006 Men and Women in Wels/Oberösterreich

This year the Austrian Championships took place in Wels/Oberösterreich. In spite of my full schedule I was able to find the time for this event. Because of my experience with this game and the high level I play, I am always the favourite in this tournament. But for me it is still a big challenge to bring a good performance, even at little events like that. On the first day we started with straight pool. I was really excited because I haven’t played straight pool in a while. All the tournaments I play are mostly in 9 ball or 8 ball, so I was really looking forward to play. In the first match my opponent could definitely feel my excitement. She made 13 balls and I answered with a series of 100 balls and finished the match. I was very happy with the start of this Championship. In the semi final I faced Christina Drexel from Vienna. With a very good feeling I played through the racks and managed to enter the final. A few concentration problems in the final made the match not really easy going but it couldn’t stop me from taking the title.

The next discipline was 8 ball and since I played IPT qualifiers before this tournament I was very good prepared and felt really strong. My opponents felt my confidence on the table which made them insecure. With a very good performance I fought through the tournament with 6:0, 6:2, 6:1 and 6:1 results. So there was only one more job, the triple.

In the 9 ball division I started out with an impressive match. At the score of 2:0 for me my opponent was banned to sit on her chair and only watch. With a clear 8:0 and very happy about the 6 racks in a row I entered the next round. This is a little event compared to all my others, but you should never under estimate the effort that it needs to play through the whole day. So I made good use of my breaks in between the matches where I tried to relax and get some energy back for the next round. I kept on playing a good level and nobody could stop me from taking the last 9 ball title. I reached my goal by making all three gold medals and was also very satisfied with my performance.
