The billiardclub of Saustall Fieberbrunn, located near to the famous wintersport region of Kitzbühl, is well known for exceptional billiards events. This year they organized a straight pool tournament for the 32 best ranked players in Austria. Because of my 5th place at the Straight Pool World Championships this year, which is the best finish of an Austrian player in a men’s World championship ever, I was seeded to the finals (King of the hill).
Previous to the final I tried to attract the audience in the special for the final built up arena with a 40 min. trickshot show to make all the spectators ready for the big show down.
In the final my opponent was, not really surprising, Albin Ouschan jr., who is at the age of 16 years the current Nr. 1 player in the Austrian ranking.
In a very defensive match with a lot of up and downs I managed to win that “familiar battle” and to be the first winner of the Austrian Straight Pool Cup.
Beside to the sold out arena and the fantastic audience it was a pleasure for me to win an elite tournament in my home country in particular of my international orientation it will be one of the only tournaments in Austria.
